GLENN USRY

SENIOR PASTOR

Christian Outreach of the Piedmont was founded through a vision given to its president, Pastor Glenn Jay Usry. A native of Hempstead, New York, Pastor Usry served for several years as an associate minister at Jackson Memorial African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church in Hempstead before pursuing full-time theological studies.


Pastor Usry attended Livingstone College and Hood Theological Seminary in Salisbury, North Carolina. He earned a Bachelor of Arts in English from Livingstone College and a Master of Religious Education from Hood Theological Seminary.


After several years of pastoral service within the African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church, Pastor Usry founded Christian Outreach of the Piedmont, Inc. in 1994, establishing a ministry dedicated to faith, outreach, and community engagement.


In addition to his pastoral leadership, Pastor Usry is a co-author of two nationally acclaimed books, Black Man’s Religion and Defending Black Faith, both published by InterVarsity Press.



Pastor Usry is married to Ruta Williams Usry andis the proud father of Vashti Aliyah Usry and Corban Lael Usry.

RUTA USRY

PASTOR

Ruta Williams Usry is the wife of Pastor Glenn Usry, Senior Pastor of Christian Outreach of the Piedmont in Statesville, North Carolina. She is an alumna of St. Augustine’s College in Raleigh, North Carolina.



Mrs. Usry is deeply involved in ministry and faithfully serves in multiple capacities, including as a Prayer Team member and Praise and Worship Leader. In addition to her ministry work, she also serves as a teacher at Success Institute Charter School.


Though she holds various titles and responsibilities, Mrs. Usry firmly believes that one does not need a title to please God—only a willing heart to do the work He has called them to do. She lives by the principle:
“The anointing has no respect of persons.”
